AK11 Public Speaking is a graded, 2 ETCS-credit practical speech course
which meets two hours weekly in a single group. AK11 is a foundation
for advanced interpreting, guide work and other professional oral English
competence, and is prerequisite (with a minimum grade of 3)
for TRENS8 Advanced Interpreting. The course may also
be taken on its own, independently of the interpreting curriculum.
There are seven assignments: two poems, one prose reading, short
speeches of introduction and thanks (with podium and hand microphones), a
speech 'extract' and a final speech. A final number grade will be given
based on an averaging of the seven speech exams, with more weight given to
the last two. Regular attendance and participation is required; there may
be no more than 3 absences. Students should use the resources at
<www.uta.fi/FAST/AK11> and join the AK11-L list.
Spring 2012 Students: [Marianna Ferreira-Aulu], Pedro Doreste,
Teresa Harju, Toni Virtanen (plus 2 more originally)
