FAST-US-6 (TRENAK14) United States Media and Communications Survey
is an elective intermediate course for the FAST Area Studies and English
Translation curricula. US-1 Introduction to American
English and US-2 American Institutions
Survey are prerequisite for US-6.
The focus of US-6 is on the traditional structure of U.S. mass media,
including television, radio, newspapers, periodicals, books and telephony,
and how digital 'convergence,' the rise of the
'information society' and the emergence of new 'personal' and 'social'
media have transformed this traditional structure.
US-6 is worth two ECTS credits with evaluation by an end-of-course
exam. Additional credit is available via optional project work or an
optional research paper. Students should subscribe to USA6-L.
